Beijing-based robotics startup Galbot, backed by the Hong Kong government, aims to challenge tech giants in the global humanoid robot market.

Co-founder Yao Tengzhou announced that Galbot will leverage Hong Kong to introduce its robots to overseas markets with high labor costs. Galbot's strength lies in embodied AI, integrating AI into physical objects to interact with environments.

With significant investments and support from China's hardware supply chain and data resources, Galbot plans to start pre-orders and deploy robots in real applications by year-end.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that AI safety leader Aleksander Madry is starting a new research project as the company changes its preparedness team.

Executives Joaquin Quinonero Candela and Lilian Weng will lead the team temporarily. This team checks how ready OpenAI's AI models are. Madry will take a bigger role in research, while researcher Tejal Patwardhan will help manage the team's work.
