The Growth Letter is Back #57

Hello beautiful people,

I hope you all had a great start to the year and dry January wasn’t too bad for you!

It’s been a long time. I took extended paternity leave. Maybe I will get into the Guinness World Records for the longest paternity leave :) It was fantastic to spend time with my baby and family, though.

As you can see, I’ve switched over to Substack, in the hope that this will give you a better experience.

From now on, you can expect more consistent content from me because I have some exciting news:

My ex-masters student, Naive is now my Executive Assistant / Projects Executive! He was one of my best students, and I’m lucky to have him on board to help me with content, personal branding, and other projects.

As always, please let me know what you like about the newsletter, and what you want to see more of. That helps me optimize and give you the best value possible.

Good Reads

Stop role playing, and don’t let the CEO take over the training! A good read here from First Round Review, some great points about the modules that need to be included in the training and the management mistakes to avoid. The mention of horoscopes made me laugh.

Lately, I’ve been interested in learning more about the VC space and how to start a VC fund.

This is a practical step-by-step guide for anyone looking to get started in the VC game.

Instead of an article, I wanted to bring a quick read on how Nadal beat the AI.

This post from Dusshyant Arya, one of my LinkedIn connections, was eye-opening for me. It goes back to what I always say, that sometimes you have to trust your gut over the data. Here’s an excerpt for you:

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedWhile the world is moving to relying on data, statistics and AI , Nadal's recent victory in Australian open (and sports) teaches us that nothing can beat the human spirit .There was a point in the third set where tournaments AI mentioned 96 percent as chance of win for Medvedev and also all subsequent statistical analysis indicated practically no logic that Nadal would have won. Nevertheless he won.It proved that resilience, keeping your cool under pressure, and the human sprit can transcend the algorithms of data science.Management lesson: To look beyond data and AI, in decision making.

Who to Follow

Zoe Chew builds mini products and launches them quickly. She’s already had multiple product launches, and I like how transparent she is throughout the whole process. Follow her if you want to understand more about creators launching mini products.

Tool of the Week

Choosing this week’s tool was easy. We’ve migrated the newsletter to Substack, an excellent tool for sharing content like newsletters, podcasts, articles and more.
